Position Overview: 

Are you a seasoned professional knowledgeable about managing transport compliance and training in a dynamic 24/7 environment?

 

As a Driver Trainer, you will be responsible for training and mentoring new drivers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to safely operate commercial vehicles.

Reporting to the Fleet Director, the Transport Compliance & Training Manager will play a crucial role in leading, controlling, and ensuring the compliance and performance of our driving team.

Job type: Full-time, Permanent

Shift: Days

Salary: Up to £36,000 per year

Responsibilities at a Glance:

  • Managing daily transport operations

  • Driving training initiatives

  • Provide hands-on instruction and guidance during driving practice sessions

  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and evaluate trainees' performance and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their driving skills

  • Fostering a proactive team ethos within the Transport Department

  • Ensure trainees understand and adhere to all applicable traffic laws and regulation

  • Assist with the development of training materials and resources

*Please note; You will need to be flexible as the role requires travel to site across the UK*

 

Remit will include:

  • Producing Toolbox Talks & SSOW and communicating out

  • Conduct 1 to 1 meetings with drivers on compliance matter

  • Conduct Transport Compliance audits

  • Work directly with onsite assessors

 

What you'll need: 

  • In-depth knowledge of transport compliance, legislation and CPC

  • Proven experience in managing driver teams and fleet compliance

  • Familiarity with EU Driver Hours Rules and the Working Time Directive

  • Excellent relationship and managerial skills

  • Ability to lead, delegate, and work under pressure

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in reporting

Preferred Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively instruct and communicate with trainees,

  • Strong mechanical knowledge to educate drivers on basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting

  • Knowledge of Construction Industry

  • Knowledge of FMCG

  • FORS Accreditation Experience

  • BRC Accreditation experience

  • Auditing experience

  • Transport Manager CPC

  • HGV Licence
