This is a key, business-wide HR position, partnering with operational and senior leaders across the Romac Logistics network and providing commercially focused HR support within a fast-paced, 24/7 transport and logistics environment.

The successful candidate will build strong relationships with General Managers, Transport Managers, Warehouse Managers and senior stakeholders across the organisation, developing a detailed understanding of their operations, people challenges and future workforce requirements.

You will provide practical HR advice, coaching and constructive challenge to management while ensuring decisions are consistent, fair and aligned with employment legislation, company policy and the wider needs of the business.

Based from our Chesterfield operation, you will act as a central HR partner for the wider Romac network, working closely with management teams to ensure a consistent approach to people management across the organisation.

You will take a proactive approach to employee relations, absence, performance, engagement, retention and workforce planning, using HR data and operational insight to identify trends and support improvements across the business.

We understand that by investing in our people, we are creating a foundation for success. We celebrate the unique talents and perspectives of our employees and the contributions they make to our business. Through our people, we will continue to shape a sustained and successful future for our organisation.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Act as a key HR Business Partner to operational and senior leaders across the Romac Logistics network, building strong relationships and providing commercially focused HR support.

  • Coach, advise and constructively challenge managers at all levels, helping to strengthen people-management capability across the business.

  • Provide expert guidance across the full employee lifecycle, ensuring a consistent and effective approach to people management.

  • Take ownership of complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, conduct, absence and performance cases.

  • Work with operational leaders to improve employee engagement, retention, attendance and overall employee experience.

  • Support organisational change, including restructuring, changes to working practices and consultation processes where required.

  • Analyse HR metrics including absence, turnover, retention and employee relations, using data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.

  • Develop practical people plans and actions in partnership with operational leaders to address identified challenges and improve performance.

  • Support succession planning, talent development and the identification of future leadership and capability requirements.

  • Ensure HR policies, processes and procedures are applied consistently across the Romac network and remain aligned with UK employment legislation and HR best practice.

  • Promote a positive, high-performing culture built around ownership, accountability and respect.

  • Work collaboratively with Recruitment, Payroll and other central functions to provide an effective and joined-up people service.

  • Support wider HR projects and people initiatives as Romac Logistics continues to grow and develop.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience operating as an HR Business Partner or HR Manager.

  • Strong generalist HR knowledge covering the full employee lifecycle.

  • Experience supporting a multi-site workforce would be highly advantageous.

  • Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.

  • Proven experience independently managing complex employee relations cases.

  • Experience supporting disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability and performance management processes.

  • The confidence to coach, influence and appropriately challenge managers and senior leaders.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build credibility across different levels and areas of an organisation.

  • A practical and commercially aware approach to HR, with the ability to balance employee considerations with operational and business requirements.

  • Experience analysing HR data and KPIs to identify trends, risks and areas requiring improvement.

  • Strong communication and influencing skills.

  • Excellent organisation and the ability to manage competing priorities within a multi-site business.

  • A proactive approach with the confidence to identify issues and drive actions rather than waiting for problems to escalate.

  • High levels of integrity, discretion and professionalism when dealing with confidential or sensitive matters.

  • Experience within transport, logistics, warehousing, distribution, manufacturing or another 24/7 operational environment would be highly advantageous.

  • CIPD qualification or equivalent HR experience would be advantageous.

What We Offer:
