Position Overview: 

As a Strategic Account Manager, you will play a pivotal role in nurturing and expanding our relationships with key clients within a small portfolio of major food and drink manufacturers and retailers. Your primary focus will be on developing and executing strategic account plans to maximize revenue, enhance client satisfaction, and drive long-term partnerships. You will act as the primary point of contact for these clients, understanding their unique needs and collaborating with internal teams to deliver exceptional solutions and service.

Job type: Full-time, Permanent

Benefits: Competitive salary and Company car

Salary: £30,000 - £34,000 per year

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders within assigned food and drink manufacturers and retailers. Understand their business objectives, challenges, and pain points to offer tailored solutions and address their specific needs effectively.

  2. Strategic Account Planning: Develop comprehensive account plans for each client, outlining growth strategies, revenue targets, and action plans to maximize business opportunities and achieve sales goals.

  3. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal teams, including operations, logistics, sales support, and marketing, to ensure seamless execution of projects and exceptional service delivery.

  4. Contract Renewals and Upselling: Monitor contract renewal dates and proactively engage clients to secure renewals. Identify upselling opportunities and introduce new services or enhancements that align with clients' evolving needs.

  5. Client Satisfaction: Act as the primary point of contact for issue resolution and address any client concerns promptly and effectively. Strive to exceed client expectations and ensure a high level of satisfaction.

  6. Market Insights: Keep abreast of industry trends, market developments, and competitor activities to provide valuable insights and recommendations to clients. Use this knowledge to position our company as a strategic partner in their growth and success.

  7. Sales Forecasting and Reporting: Provide regular updates on account performance, sales forecasts, and progress against strategic account plans. Utilize CRM tools and sales reports to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.

  8. Customer Advocacy: Be the voice of the client within the organization, advocating for their needs, and driving continuous improvement in our products and services.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field preferred.

  • Proven experience as a Strategic Account Manager, Key Account Manager, or in a similar role, preferably within the food and drink manufacturing or retail industry.

  • Strong understanding of logistics, warehousing, or transportation services is advantageous.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to build strong client relationships.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic account plans to achieve business objectives.

  • Results-driven with a track record of exceeding sales targets and revenue growth.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently.

  • Proficiency in using CRM software and Microsoft Office applications.
