Inventory Manager

Position Overview: 

The National Systems & Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimising the inventory management and warehouse management systems (WMS) across all Romac Logistics facilities. This role requires a highly IT literate professional with expert knowledge of WMS, preferably Blue Yonder (formerly JDA), to ensure seamless integration and operation of systems to support the company's logistics and distribution functions. 

Based: Romac Logistics Ltd, Wolverhampton

Job type: Full-time, Permanent (Mon - Fri)

Salary: £50,000 per year – dependant on experience

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Systems Management & Optimisation: 

  • Manage and optimise the performance of the Blue Yonder WMS. 

  • Ensure the WMS meets the operational needs of the business and supports efficient inventory management. 

  • Identify and implement system improvements and upgrades to enhance functionality and performance. 

  • Collaborate with IT and third-party vendors to resolve any system issues and ensure continuous operation. 

 

Inventory Management: 

  • Develop and oversee inventory management strategies to maintain optimal stock levels and reduce excess inventory. 

  • Implement best practices for inventory accuracy, including cycle counts and physical inventories. 

  • Analyse inventory data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement. 

  • Work closely with operations teams to align inventory management with business needs. 

 

Project Management: 

  • Lead and manage WMS-related projects, including system implementations, upgrades, and integrations. 

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. 

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution and adoption. 

 

Training & Support: 

  • Provide training and support to staff on the use of WMS and inventory management practices. 

  • Develop training materials and user guides to support ongoing education and system utilisation. 

  • Act as the primary point of contact for system-related queries and troubleshooting. 

 

Data Analysis & Reporting: 

  • Utilise WMS data to generate reports and insights on inventory performance and system usage. 

  • Provide regular reports to senior management on inventory metrics, system performance, and project status. 

  • Use data analysis to support decision-making and drive continuous improvement initiatives. 

 

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field is preferable. 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in inventory management and WMS, preferably with Blue Yonder/JDA systems. 

  • Strong IT literacy with expertise in WMS implementation, configuration, and optimisation. 

  • Proven experience in managing large-scale projects and cross-functional teams. 

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and support staff at all levels. 

  • Ability to travel nationally as required.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and training. 

  • Leadership: Strong leadership abilities to manage teams and drive system and process improvements.
